You can teach your child about various foods and various ways they can be bought and cooked. You can teach about setting the table and serving food, not to mention nutrition. And finally, there is that all important clearing off the table, putting the food away and doing the dishes.
The table setting is also a good place to begin social skills training. A play kitchen sets the stage to reinforce these skills, because there is more to playing kitchen than just cooking. You need to serve play food and sit down and have a pretend meal. Manners are important for pretend meals also. It is a good time to rehearse please and thank you. "Pass the milk, please."
You want to spending quality time with your child. A pretend kitchen gives you opportunity to have highly interactive quality time with your child. Follow your child's lead. They will help you play with them. Guiding the play along educational lines is important. But remember, it is their play time. Your child learns to lead by taking charge.
