Selecting The Gender Of Your Baby - Why Conceive A Male?

This time we were specifically looking for the reasons why anyone wishes to conceive a baby boy. Here is what we found (but don't read too much into the comments as they are probably impromptu):
To start with the "craziest"":
1. I'm 19 and I am 20 weeks pregnant with a son. I always hoped it would be a son, a male, even prayed for a boy, a son. I could never cope with a daughter. There's no way on earth they are easier, especially if she's related to me! Girls are insane and possibly evil so I'm glad to be having a boy, nastiest thing that happens with a boy is he's a little stupid!!!"

6. If I can pick the sex of my child, I really want a baby boy. I have always wanted a daughter, but this changed recently, when I thought about all the troubles I brought on my parents and I wouldn't want my baby girl to turn out like me, and I would be worried to death that she would. If I was told that I was going to have a daughter, I would love her just as much as a son, and wouldn't be disappointed one bit, I would just be a little scared that she would turn out like me.
I have been in a lot of trouble (with guys) these past few years, and I wouldn't want my baby to be doing the things I did/do."

We were quite amazed at the reasons why people want to choose the sex of their baby, and had sort of guessed that couples may want to conceive a male only either to "even out the sexes" or to "carry on the family name".
